27. Freehand Painted Shirts using Acrylic Paints (How-to)

Hallo! Do you know the guy on the first photo? Yes, that’s Y U NO. teehee :)
I’ve been practicing painting freehand for some time now and it’s really fun doing it on shirts. The problem is that, art stuff are quite expensive. So, to make use of my available acrylic paints, I googled whatever needed to combine with it for shirt painting. Fortunately, I stumbled over a good tutorial (you can read it here!) saying that I only need a textile medium to start off.

THINGS NEEDED:

1. T-shirt. It’s better pre-washed :) Not in the photo but you’ll also need cardboard inside the shirt that you’re going to paint. I used an old shoe box covered with waxed paper.

2. Acrylic Paints.

3. Textile Medium. My photo isn’t much help, it’s 2 0z. / 59 ml. FolkArt Textile Medium. If you’re from the Philippines, you can buy one from Deovir. Combine 2 parts of it with 1 part acrylic paint (there’s instructions on the bottle).

4. Paint Brushes.

5. Palette or any water resistant plate you got.

Alas, I run out of white paint. Nevertheless, Y U NO is extra cute in rage :D
Lastly, let the paint dry then iron it or you can use a dryer. And, that’s it!

I also made a Midori Kobayashi shirt. Midori from Haruki Murakami‘s Norwegian Wood

This is the first one I made and it didn’t turn out well. Still, I will wear this because it’s Midori ^w^
